Los Angeles is not a walkable city – we drive our cars to the corner coffee shop – and if you don’t have wheels, your options become extremely limited. UCLA canceled all Wednesday classes due to the "distress caused by the violence that took place on Royce Quad" overnight, according to a statement from the university. LAPD declined to comment, directing ABC News to UCLA's police department, which further directed ABC News to the university for comment. KABC stated that "after a couple of hours of scuffles between protesters," police formed lines between the groups to quell the violence. Other counterprotesters can be seen spraying substances and throwing fireworks toward and into the encampment. The student protesters are calling for the university to divest from Israel.

But Juarez’s life was upended a few months ago, when she and her family learned their rental and 16 others on Toland Way in Eagle Rock were targeted for demolition to make way for new affordable housing. A proposal for an eight-story, 153-unit building was submitted as part of Executive Directive 1, Mayor Karen Bass’ initiative to fast track the approval of low-cost housing. The UCLA Palestine Solidarity Encampment criticized the university and public safety officials for what they say was inaction amid the violence.

Some Toland Way residents fought back tears as they described their fear of being forced out of their apartments. Johanna Olivares, 42, said she and her family have been paying $892 per month for their apartment on Toland Way. A 20-year resident of the building, she said the landlord has previously offered cash to her family to move out. Juarez, who has lived in her home on Toland Way since 1978, said she is grateful to Hernandez for helping her neighborhood with the fight against demolition. She said safeguards aimed at protecting tenants won’t go far enough for her and her neighbors. Finding a pet-friendly apartment in Los Angeles can feel overwhelming, but don't despair!

Still, some renters’ rights activists have been critical. Last year, they pointed out that dozens of tenants in South Los Angeles were being pushed out of apartments targeted for demolition by developers using ED1’s fast-track process. Tuesday’s vote is the latest example of council members looking to rein in real estate developments that would result in the destruction of rent-controlled units. In December, the City Council passed a motion from Councilmember Kevin de León seeking a temporary ban on the demolition of rent-controlled apartments in Boyle Heights.

But getting a cut of future revenue would encourage them to invest in their cars and facilities. Teams, most of which lose money each year under the current model, said that this hurt their ability to prepare for the future, scared investors away and made operations tenuous at a time when NASCAR seemed flush. When Michael Jordan and his right-hand man, Curtis Polk, bought a NASCAR team in 2020 with the driver Denny Hamlin, they were prepared to endure short-term losses. The Next Generation cars that were introduced in 2022 would cost top teams about $18 million a year to run before paying a driver, and their team, 23XI, had two. If you cross into jumbo territory, you may need to make a larger down payment, have additional cash reserves and/or pay a higher rate. Florida offers something for just about every affordability level, so pick a spot where your budget can put you within reach of the type of home and neighborhood you want. As a starting point for your budget, aim to spend no more than 28 percent of your monthly income on your housing expenses. This will leave enough to cover other expenses, pay off debts and save for your long-term needs. Use Bankrate’s Housing Affordability Calculator to get a picture of your budget. Florida covers more than 65,000 square miles, so you’ll need to think about what you’re looking for in a location.

The level of integrity and customer service you experience can vary, even within an established house-buying company that strives to maintain consistent business standards. This is because many We Buy Houses for Cash companies are franchises and often use independent investors or local wholesaling outfits. Your experience greatly depends on the character of the person or group making the offer. For many home sellers, We Buy Houses for Cash companies can be a solid solution to get a property sold quickly or to access cash for an expected life challenge. On the other hand, the “cash for your home” rehabbing business model has also led to what some housing advocates call predatory tactics. When considering an offer from a We Buy Houses site, remember that these are house-buying companies, which means they’re ultimately trying to make a profit.

The Department of Labor’s new overtime regulation is restoring and extending this promise for millions more lower-paid salaried workers in the U.S. Still, 37 “no” votes, while a break from Washington’s ironclad support for the Jewish state, fell short of the opposition bloc progressives had hoped to muster. Thirty-nine Democrats had voted “no” on Friday on the rule to allow the foreign aid package to come to the House floor, a target that progressives just missed on Saturday on the Israel bill.

With Florida housing markets heating up again in favor of sellers, going with an agent could pay off big time. Before committing to a We Buy Houses for Cash company, HomeLight suggests you consult with a top agent to get a better idea of what your home might be worth if sold on the open market. Then compare cash offers to what a top agent might be able to get for your home. If you want to work with them, you’ll talk with an employee over the phone and then receive a cash offer. When it’s time to close, you can do so from your home, another state, an attorney’s office, or anywhere else you choose. The House of Representatives on Saturday passed a more than $60 billion bill to provide military and economic aid to Ukraine. Selling a home to a We Buy Houses for Cash company shouldn’t cost you any money, though you’ll likely get less overall for your home. Let’s say your Fort Lauderdale ranch home could sell for $350,000 after repairs, but it’s going to need $80,000 of work to get there. Though one thing to note is that major iBuyers like Opendoor and Offerpad usually charge sizable fees for their services, usually around 5%.

The portal is currently closed because of demand, and July 1 is the next chance to apply. Since 2022, the state has conducted more than 104,000 home inspections and approved more than 38,000 grant applications, according to the Department of Financial Services, which administers the program. In the last two years, the program has been so popular that funding has dried up quickly. The program was created in 2006, following the hurricane-heavy storm seasons in 2004 and 2005 that saw 2.8 million Florida homeowners suffer more than $33 billion in insured property damage. After an inspection, associations would also have the ability to apply for improvement grants.

The Friendly Home Buyer has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and works with homeowners to close on their homes whenever works best for them. To work with AARE, you’ll speak with a company representative over the phone or online, where you can explain your current situation. AARE is flexible in the types of homes it buys; the company is equipped to purchase distressed homes or properties with an abundance of clutter, hostile tenants, city/county liens, or violations. The department’s final rule, which will go into effect on July 1, 2024, will increase the standard salary level that helps define and delimit which salaried workers are entitled to overtime pay protections under the FLSA. However, different types of house-buying companies will offer varying amounts for homes. As mentioned previously, iBuyers tend to pay more like 90%-95% of market value while charging a fee for their services. This is a big financial decision, so it may make sense to consult with a trusted real estate agent who can complete a comparative market analysis (CMA) to help you understand your home’s value and how quickly it’s likely to sell. IBuyers offer all-cash and can close in a matter of days to a few weeks.

If you accept the offer, you’ll complete a contract, and typically receive your cash 10 to 20 business days after signing. With this method, the company completes necessary repairs on the property and helps you find a third-party buyer. Due to the improved state of your home, the company says that you may receive 10%-15% more than you would with a regular cash offer. Instead of individual owners applying for inspections and grants, the condo association or board will have to vote to apply. DeSantis said he will support money for the pilot program in the budget for the next fiscal year (HB 5001). DeSantis as of Wednesday had not received the budget, which includes three line items totaling $30 million for the pilot program.

Banks, credit unions and mortgage companies all have different criteria that impact the terms they can offer borrowers. Overtime protections have been a critical part of the FLSA since 1938 and were established to protect workers from exploitation and to benefit workers, their families and our communities. Strong overtime protections help build America’s middle class and ensure that workers are not overworked and underpaid.

My Florida Home Buyers is typically able to make offers within 24 hours and can close in as little as seven days. The founder of All About Real Estate, Petru Pusta, is a licensed real estate broker and has been doing real estate transactions since 2008. The company is family-owned and operated and has completed over 1,500 transactions to date. The company can close on homes in as little as seven days but is also happy to accommodate longer closings. FL Cash Home Buyers has over 100 reviews on Google for an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Past customers speak highly of the employees’ attentiveness, responsiveness, and ability to answer questions.

Fourteen of those Democrats voted on Saturday in favor of aid to Israel, while 12 Democrats who voted to allow the package on the floor on Friday then cast votes against the funding itself. House buying companies can be a good alternative for Florida sellers in need of a quick exit from homeownership, but they’re not without drawbacks. However you choose to sell your home, it’s important to avoid making a hasty decision. Check reviews, read testimonials, and research its presence and performance in the market.

There are also plenty of down payment assistance sources that can help you manage that big expense. And if you qualify as a low- or moderate-income borrower, there are also programs specifically designed to put home ownership closer to your reach. If you have never owned a home before (or at least not in the past three years), your status as a first-time homebuyer can put you in the running for some valuable assistance that makes purchasing a home less daunting.

reviews of Everlasting Kiss, a Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips

charlotte tilbury everlasting kiss

Overall I’m happy with the way all of them look except for Pillow Talk Diamonds. They are very sheer and I find their online stock photos and model photos very misleading. I find they look a lot more pigmented and opaque online than they do in real life – even with heavy lip layering. For the price I’d expect a lot more product at the very least. As much as I like the colors I think the deeper and brighter options I bought last year make for a better buy.

It's very wet and never drys so its messy and bleeds on me. As an example, one rating criteria for lipsticks is luster. Matte might be a desired quality for you, while glossy might be desired for someone else. Without the need for long-form written text, everyone saves time. Don’t let us discourage you from waxing poetic if you are so inclined, some people are gifted writers and should share if they want to.

CHARLOTTE'S MAGIC MINI SKIN SETLIMITED EDITION KIT

It wore well for three hours and felt hydrating over time. Charlotte Tilbury Enchanting Kiss Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was slightly more coverage than marketed, that applied somewhat evenly. The Kissing formula is supposed to be pigmented and luminous, while also being hydrating. It has a creamier, lightweight consistency that's comfortable to wear and to apply with a moderately hydrating formula to back it.

Charlotte Tilbury Crystal Happikiss, Enchanting Kiss, Happipetal Happikiss Lipstick Balms Review & Swatches

I think every color in the Gorgeous Glowing Beauty palette is wearable and great for the more conservative beauty lover or for those who feel like they don’t know how to wear makeup. It’s truly easy to wear with easy to follow steps for a full face look and I do think it’s beautiful! At $75 it is fairly spendy, I bought mine during the Sephora Holiday bonus event for some savings. When I previewed shopping the palette in store a lot of you asked how it compares to The Dolce Vita quad (now renamed The Bella Sofia), swatches below. There are definitely similarities in two of the shades, I find the individual quad has more color payoff on the eyes.

This format gives reviewers a way to provide an in-depth review of the same specific aspects of a product, allowing you zero in on the criteria that are most important to you. Charlotte Tilbury Happipetal Hyaluronic Happikiss Colour Balm ($34.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-coral with strong, warm undertones and a high-shine, glossy cream finish. The texture was thicker, slightly denser, and this resulted in a heavier look that was easy to over-apply.

The formulas in this palette itself are much better in pigment and color payoff significantly compared to the first ones she launched. It’s still a very natural looking but I think colors are deep enough for even medium tan skin tones. It’s neutral in undertone to me making it a lot more wearable than her previous Beauty Glow Palette from 2017. Colors are soft but buildable, I think with the texture it’s easy to blend and impossible to overdo. It didn’t have as much slip as I would have thought, but this helped it sit better on my lips and have better longevity. It had rich color coverage that adhered somewhat evenly to my lips and seemed to fill in a few of my lip lines but didn’t smooth them all out.

SEE IT ON YOUR SKINTONE

Worth noting, the packaging used thinner plastic and was much lighter-weight (to the point of feeling a little flimsy) compared to other Charlotte Tilbury lip products. It also has a clicking, twist-up mechanism that doesn't lalow for the product to be twist back into the tube, so take care when twisting product out for use. I'm guessing that the more balm-like formula needed that type of mechanism in order not to break at the base. Overall lots to love for easy everyday kind of makeup.

I just got Crystal HappiKiss, I thought the other colours looked too pigmented for a balm type product. The Tarte Maricuja Juicy Lip is an exact dupe for this very shiny thick balm. I can’t remember what they cost, but the are deffo cheaper. The have loads more colours, and all of them are sheer.

Velvet Underground Kissing Lipstick (£23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bold, brightened fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin finish. It was incredibly pigmented, and it applied and wore beautifully for a solid six and a half hours, plus it left behind a stain that lingered for a couple more hours. It was neither drying nor hydrating while worn; it seemed slightly moisturizing initially but at the four-hour mark, it just seemed neither drying nor hydrating. The Charlotte Tilbury Gorgeous, Glowing Beauty Instant Look in a Palette is such a pretty easy to wear palette I think it should be permanent!

Whether the product looked smoothing depended on the shade as some were more flattering to wear than others. The formula had a subtle, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste. Charlotte Tilbury Coral Kiss Kissing Lipstick (£23.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened, medium coral-pink with a satin finish.

Pests That Might Be Living in Your Garage

However, if your flea infestation is larger, you may want to try a few of the methods detailed below. Fleas can be extremely sneaky pests, finding places to hide just about anywhere. They can settle into carpets, furniture, and other surfaces that allow a comfortable place to hide. Vacuum everywhere you can think of in order to catch as many fleas and eggs as possible.

Sentry says it conditions the skin as it effectively gets rid of fleas and ticks for up to 10 days (you will need to reapply if you still see fleas after that). The pH-balanced formula can also kill the deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease, according to the brand. The formula contains permethrin, an insecticide that can be dangerous if swallowed or overused — make sure to use the shampoo as directed and consult your veterinarian beforehand.

Extreme infestations can cause bleeding issues, dermatitis and other skin irritations, and they can also assist in transferring internal parasites — mainly tapeworms,” he explained. The best approach involves multiple steps that target fleas, larvae and eggs on your pet, in your house and in your yard. If you suspect a flea infestation, it’s important to first ensure all pets are treated with veterinarian-approved flea treatments. Pet treatments target the hungry adults fleas that will die after feeding on the treated animals. Steam cleaning your carpets, furniture and pet bed is a brilliant idea if you have a flea infestation. Thanks to the combination of high heat and soap, the fleas will be gone in no time.

That includes thoroughly washing your bed sheets and your pet’s bedding, vacuuming floors and furniture and beginning a regular bathing regimen for all pets in your home. It’s also a good idea to call a professional pest management company to assess your property and determine if an insecticide would be helpful for a fast resolution. Fleas bite pets and people and can cause severe itchiness and allergic reactions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), fleas can also transmit diseases to and from humans and pets, including typhus, plague and cat scratch disease (CSD). The CDC also maintains that getting rid of fleas is complicated, as flea treatments aren’t always effective at every stage of the insect’s life cycle. Fleas can be a real pest to deal with once your cat picks them up, and if left untreated, fleas can become very dangerous for pets, leading to anemia and spreading disease.

Here is everything you need to know about how to get rid of birds in your attic without harming them. From hanging ribbons and cards to sticky stands specifically designed for potted plants, sticky traps are an easy way to catch a cluster of gnats. You'll just have to keep an eye on it and replace the trap once it's full. Plug-in traps, like the Zevo Flying Insect Trap, can be extremely effective.

After your pet is dry, apply a flea treatment from your vet. Paola likes the liquid form because it lasts as long a a month, begins working in the first day and may kill ticks, as well. "Whether it be a pill, collar, topical or spray, be sure to follow the labeled directions carefully. These products will kill fleas on your pet no matter where they pick them up."

The price will vary on the complexity of the project and the state of your attic. To remove a bird from the space, Singleton recommended going to a hardware store or sporting goods store and purchasing a net. “When you have a bird in your attic, you have to question whether that bird is trapped in your attic, or if it’s getting in and out of your attic intentionally,” Singleton said. This involves locating the specific area of the problem, such as where the bird is gaining entry. We turned to Fredericks and Singleton for wildlife removal expertise.

While you’re likely going to go ahead and disinfect your whole home, provide special attention to the areas that your cat frequents. Ensure these areas are thoroughly disinfected and vacuumed to make sure no fleas are left behind. When there are lots of soft surfaces in your home, then fleas will have more places to hide. Excess fabric around your house can provide fleas with an ideal hiding place.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the life cycle of the flea depends on a lot on environmental conditions. Fleas flourish in warm climates and usually (but not always) die in the winter season. Excessive itching and scratching is a telltale sign your pet may have fleas.

how do you get rid of fleas in the house

If you are looking for simple and effective ways to get rid of fleas in the house, you've come to the right place. Most flea infestations stem from pets, but irritating pests can bite both you and your animals. If your furry friend has fleas, it's likely your home, garden and furniture will be targeted next. Once all of the fleas on your animals have been eradicated, it's time to move on to your house.

Too short, and insects that eat fleas (like ants and spiders) won't want to show up there either. Ideally, once your washing cycle is done, you should hang everything outside in the sun. Alternatively, drying your washing on the HOT heat cycle is the next best option.

Chances are good that either you or your pet brought those fleas indoors after a romp outside. To check whether your pet’s the culprit, take them outside or into the bathroom, set a bowl of hot soapy water aside, and use a flea comb to comb through your pet’s fur. To rid your home of fleas, you’ll need to do a thorough cleaning, both inside and out. If the infestation is severe or you can’t clean your home from top to bottom, contact your local pest-control agency. It will come up with a game plan that’ll get the job done quickly and safely.

While some species of gnats can bite and sting, the species most commonly found inside the house are more of a nuisance than a danger to humans. "In a recent study, we found that most of the 'flying insects' in homes are fungus gnats," says Dr. Changlu Wang, who works in the Department of Entomology at Rutgers University. He adds that fungus gnats "do not bite people or cause allergic reactions." It’s no secret that most cats don’t like being given a bath, but bathing your cat can help to reduce the number of fleas on them. It’s unlikely to eliminate the fleas entirely, but it will remove some of them and may make it easier to remove some manually. For example, avoid letting piles of clothes collect, get rid of blankets and furniture that don’t get used, and keep fabrics clean and put away.

Are there any limitations with the Unlimited Dining Package?

You don't need reservations to dine here — simply pop on by and enjoy the feast. In addition to the daily gratuities, any onboard purchases or services, such as drinks, spa treatments, or dining at specialty restaurants, come with an added 18% gratuity. Cruisers bringing babies along can take advantage of the Royal Babies and Tots℠ Nursery, offering care for the littlest guests for a fee. If you're likely to drink four or five cocktails most days, plus specialty coffee, waters for excursions, soda and a glass of wine at dinner, your total, if purchased individually would easily exceed $80 per day. It’s easy to search for cruises on the line’s website, but it will take a few clicks to get the hang of finding the deal that suits you best. One trick we’ve learned is not to hesitate to use the "Select Date” option to let the website show you the actual full price. Sometimes it’s the only way to know if you’re getting the deal you thought you were.

What is available to reserve on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner site?

While it does come with an extra charge for most guests, those staying in the Ben & Jerry’s Sweet suite on certain ships are given a voucher for free ice cream. Beyond the included meals, Royal Caribbean boasts a diverse roster of specialty restaurants, each with its unique pricing structure, either via a cover charge or à la carte. The drink package benefits are loaded onto the guest’s SeaPass card, making it convenient to order drinks throughout the cruise. If you are a Diamond C&A member, your SeaPass card will be loaded with four free drinks per day.

This is recommended only for those not purchasing a dining package. It offers guests perks like priority boarding, VIP seating at events, private meals, and special times at onboard activities. Plan your excursions, upgrade your dining packages, and enjoy more drinks for less when you book everything ahead of time. Yes, drink packages purchased for onboard your Royal Caribbean cruise are honored at either destination. It’s an age-old question — does the early bird really get the worm, or are there perks to taking a “wait-and-see” approach?

Royal Caribbean's Water Packages are available in 12- and 24-packs of one-liter bottles of Evian water. If you’re trying to determine whether or not the Unlimited Dining Package is worth it on Royal Caribbean, it’s helpful to take a look at the pros and cons of this package before booking. Not far from Port Canaveral, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a great place to spend a day admiring the vast scope of NASA. The center offers one-of-a-kind immersion into space exploration, including the chance to strap into a rocket launch simulator for an adrenaline-pumping thrill.

Top Cruise Dining on Symphony of the Seas

Your adventure filled with endless onboard thrills you can tackle together starts the second you book your cruise. The kids will love racing down the tallest slide at sea, Ultimate Abyss — it’s 10 stories high, and a total rush. Teens can get their adrenaline pumping on the surf simulator and zip lining. And grownups will find something that speaks to every type of interest while strolling through the ship's seven neighborhoods. There is no additional charge to use your beverage packages on the island, so it is added value for anyone visiting. No, there is not any daily limit with Royal Caribbean drink packages.

Starbucks, Ben & Jerry’s, La Patisserie, and Sugar Beach are also not included with the Unlimited Dining Package. If you spot a better discount on something you already pre-purchased, you should be able to cancel the purchase and then re-purchase the same item under this promotion. It applies to all sailings between September 9 - September 30, 2022 (except Spectrum of the Seas and Charter Sailings).

When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. If you're sure that Royal Caribbean is your line, look for a travel agent who specializes in trips with the brand. You want someone who knows all 34 of those cabin categories that we mentioned above and, preferably, has done ship inspections to see them firsthand.

But nothing says romance quite like exploring the world with the love of your life. So with the kids excitedly checked into AO, you can spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool deck. The main pools are always popular, but the Solarium is a great getaway from the bustle with cozy nooks overlooking the ocean and a more tranquil pool vibe.

If you can live without the extras, stick with the soda-only package. Cocktails are $10-$14, except for the drink of the day, which is $8. The one-liter bottles in the Water Package cost roughly the same as a 12-ounce bottle from a bar. That makes this package a deal, but only if you prefer bottled water over taps or dispensers. It's also convenient to have the water delivered to your cabin, eliminating the need to bring a case of bottles on board or search for a bottle when you want water on the ship.

Children 5 and under dine at specialty restaurants for free, and children aged 6-12 can be added to a dining reservation for only $10 per child. Depending on the restaurant, you’ll receive either $20 or $35 in food credit. You can put this credit toward appetizers, main courses, or desserts.

If you’re new to Royal Caribbean, the Cruise Planner can feel a bit overwhelming at first. Knowing the ins and outs of the Cruise Planner can not only help you find the best add-ons for your cruise vacation, but save you money along the way. Whether you cruise multiple times per year or you're new to cruising, the goal of Royal Caribbean Blog is for it to be a useful resource for keeping up to date with what's new and exciting with Royal Caribbean. Keep in mind that most drinks are within the drink package threshold, and only a few top shelf liquors are excluded. In short, you need to go out of your way to try to exceed the limit.

The Shore Excursions tab is where you can browse and purchase tours for your upcoming cruise vacation. These are real questions we are asked, so here are the answers to some other beverage package questions we often get asked. To take advantage of this week's sale, log in to your account on Royal Caribbean's website and find the "Cruise Planner" section. Secure these discounts when you buy a package for one of the above items now for sailings scheduled to take place Monday through the end of the year.

Unveiling the Disney Wish Cruise Ship A Complete Guide to a Magical Cruise

Deck 4

I'll happily admit to being a sucker for a suite at sea and Disney concierge service amenities, but all of the cabins on Wish are a big step up for Disney Cruise Line. Sailing from Port Canaveral for three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas for the foreseeable future, Disney Cruise Line's fifth ship is a stunning departure from its sister ships, to say the least. We might have had to wait ten years for a new Disney Cruise ship, but the wait was certainly worth it. The Disney Wish is in a class by itself, with some innovative design features and guest offerings not found anywhere else.

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods

The interior design no longer seems focused on evoking the glamour and beauty of the golden age of ocean liners. It largely opts against period-inspired Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles in favor of a variety of disparately-themed spaces. It’s nearly impossible to be bored on the Disney Wish, what with the ship’s daily schedule of fun-filled activities, and all of the space to explore, including its six pools. There is absolutely no chance of going hungry on the Disney Wish, starting with the casual Marceline Market and its 10 tempting food stalls for casual dining for breakfast and lunch, and table-service at dinnertime. “Be our guest” is a sentiment the crew aboard the Disney Wish takes to heart, and they go above and beyond to make you feel right at home from the moment you step on board. From the cabin stewards to the lifeguards at the pools and beaches to the dining, bars, activities, and island teams, everyone is ready to make your cruise a memorable one.

Deck 2

We never totally got our bearings on the Disney Wish, and know we’re not alone. Some of this could be attributed to a lack of familiarity with the Wish as compared to the other ships, but some odd choices were also made. We had the chance to spend 3-nights aboard the Disney Wish for its Christening Cruise.

A reimagined upper deck

The latter even features a special appearance by none other than the ship's Fairy Godmother, who kicks off a farewell show. Kids club highlights include the Oceaneer Club's Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can design (and virtually fly in) their own super suit. This club also houses Rapunzel's Art Studio, Belle's Library and Anna and Elsa's Sommerhus, where there will be a variety of games with Olaf serving as the host. In a pure stroke of genius, Disney added a fun, unconventional way for kids to enter the Oceaneer Club.

Same goes for the kids clubs, which offer huge improvements over the other ships and a ton of cool new things to do. Adults have long been envious of the fun, interactive experiences offered exclusively to children aboard Disney Cruise Line. To some extent, that has been directly remedied with new themed spaces for all ages. While the kids are at the variety of clubs designed for them, adults can take advantage of spaces for the 18-and-older crowd. In fact, that's one reason why I love Disney cruises so much — the kids want to do the kids activities, which means adults get to enjoy amenities designed for us, too.

Worlds of Marvel

By contrast, the things that the other ships do better are a matter of preference, and less make or break. However, the Disney Wish is not the ship we’d recommend to cruise newbies who are potentially interested in experiencing the other ships–or longtime Walt Disney World fans wanting to take their first cruise. That comes down to the expectations this particular ship creates that the rest don’t really match. In several ways, it feels like the guiding light behind this project was bringing as much of the contemporary Disney theme park experience as possible to a cruise ship. Dubbed the “castle on the sea,” the Disney Wish heavily emphasizes some of the company’s MVP IPs.

Our three-night itinerary sailed from Port Canaveral to Castaway Cay, Disney’s exclusive private island in the Bahamas. There’s even exclusive Castaway Cay souvenirs available in the on-island shops. For those really wanting to splash out, the first-of-its-kind, Moana-themed Concierge Wish Tower Suite is perched high on the Disney Wish’s funnel above the upper decks, accessible by private elevator. For families, one of the best parts of a family cruise with Disney Cruise Line is that kids often want to go to the complimentary kids clubs. This gives grown-ups a chance to have a drink, not rush through dinner and enjoy a few moments to themselves. Connecting both of these luxe dining options is The Rose, a lounge that offers wine, small bites and other adult-focused items designed for pre- or post-dinner enjoyment.

But on the other hand, the itineraries are honestly somewhat of a snooze compared to the exotic itineraries you can have on other Disney ships. We know many frequent cruisers who don’t even get off the ship when it docks in Nassau. If we’re being pragmatic about it, we recognize that these shorter Bahamian cruises have been a mainstay of Disney Cruise Line since its earliest days. We also know that Port Canaveral, FL is Disney’s truest “home port,” with year-round departures that are within an hour’s drive or so from Disney World. Our reviewers were astounded by the experience provided by the facilities at Senses Spa and Salon onboard the Disney Wish.

The Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah sleeps either 3 or 4 guests and has 243 square feet of space. “One thing that's really important in our state rooms and our suites is we are continuing to bring Disney stories of enchantment to life. So they're a little bit different from the state rooms you know and love on the existing ships,” Weiss said. This is hardly criticism of the Disney Wish, but rather, acknowledging that it’s a bit of an outlier. It’s one that’s better in many ways, delivering exactly what some fans will want and making it difficult to go back to the other ships.

Star Wars, Marvel, Frozen, and more all have strong presences aboard the ship. Just about everything is tied to characters in some fashion, with the Wish feeling very much in line with some of Disney’s other recent additions in its theme parks. For all of the family and adult-designed fun on the Disney Wish, the decor of the ship itself is elegant, starting in the Grand Hall and cascading down hallways and staircases. More than 4,400 works of art hang on the walls, and the ambient music gently complements the design. It’s A Small World Nursery provides baby-sitting services for kids ages 6 months to 3 years old, complete with play room with favorite Disney characters and even a toy train.

The Disney Wish is going to garner strong opinions from passionate cruisers and first-timers. The newest addition to DCL’s fleet will likely be your favorite or least favorite ship, with only a little middle ground in between reactions. This review of the Disney Wish cruise ship offers our big picture impressions on its highs and low.

To bring back the Star’s powers, Captain Minnie needs Guests to help navigate the ship toward these uncharted worlds. This one-of-a-kind theatrical adaptation of the beloved 1989 Disney animated film was created exclusively for the Disney Wish. With innovative theatrical design, dazzling special effects, and artistic choreography, the all-new script and score goes beyond the film to find new ways to delight.

You will get the chance to see these shows as each plays twice at a time that fits in with your dinner seating. These reservation-only activities are scheduled every day and are available to book before your cruise, as well as on board. You can do as much or as little as you want to, but there are plenty of activities throughout the day to keep you busy if you want to join in. There are plenty of opportunities to burn off the extra calories from all the amazing food you will be enjoying. This water ride combines views of the ocean, with innovative storytelling as you travel through the 760 feet of tubes. There is a fabulous infinity pool at the aft of the ship, but it is small.

Additionally, the ship offers "Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular" on one night of every cruise. This show is a reimagined adaptation of the classic film, depicting it as a fast-paced musical comedy. Both have delicious drinks, but Nightingale's offers a more upscale vibe than what you'll find at The Bayou, which features more of a full-on party setting, especially when live music is playing. Unlike the included rotational restaurants, this experience costs extra. If your kids have always wanted to celebrate summer via a picnic with Olaf in Arendelle's Castle, they are in luck on the Wish. Set in an indoor space with a backdrop of a meadow of flowers, Olaf's Royal Picnic features Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and a song-filled picnic complete with a ton of goodies for the kids to keep.

Home to the Star Wars Galactic Creature Keepers adventure, kids here will become intergalactic creature handlers, feeding lifelike, interactive creatures and encountering some of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy. Don’t worry, though — with the help of Rey and Chewbacca (and the Force), everything will turn out just fine. Children become young Avengers, training alongside their favorite Marvel Super Heroes. Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp are regulars here as kids team up, select their super suit, and battle infamous villains of the Marvel Universe. The different storylines that are offered via the video clips help to add a bit of re-ride-ability to this relatively short attraction. Without that change, most folks would likely ride it once and be on their way.
